New Health Care Plan?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Today in America, many more of its population is in need of affordable health care. A number of employers have reduced their health care benefits because accountants are working to tighter budgets and the cost of providing this service has risen. Before this year, I had great health care with my company but it has reduced this year so I know this is the reason. Out of the blue the company decided to change their health care provider because it was costing them too much.health

They said that to have a low cost health care scheme for everyone meant we would have to change companies. I do not doubt that many people will say that I am still doing alright and should not complain. To some extent I do agree, but their search for another provider now costs me double the money from my paychecks to have my husband and daughter on my policy. Ok, so many other people benefit, including my company, but my paycheck is considerably lighter now that the premium has doubled to keep my family on the policy.

Ok, so my health care is still respectable but the new company that we have is not as good as our previous. Many workers saw their paychecks reduce when this new affordable health care scheme come into force. You see, four years ago, I gave birth to a little girl and of course my old insurance paid for the whole of my hospital stay. This new plan, under similar circumstances however, would personally cost me in excess of 5,000 dollars.

However, that amount is just for the hospital and delivery because I would also have other expenses and that just doesn’t seem fair to the majority that are involved. We are now seeing an increasing number of companies creating affordable health care plans. Options now exist for people that are not supplied with a health provision where they work, and now single mothers have access to plans which they can join; some people can even have free health care. Unfortunately, there are always a few that want to ruin it for the rest and this system is prone to misuse.

Natural Treatment for Arthritis Pain

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Many of the processed foods consumed today, are lacking a necessary element: antioxidants. These antioxidants have for many years worked with our bodies to provide natural flushing of harmful toxins from our bodies. A lack of antioxidant intake, along with increased exposure to physical and mental stress has increased our susceptibility to diseases such as arthritis.health3

It is a very painful problem; you lose your mobility because of his problem. This difficulty can be diagnosed only if a few blood test and x ray is taken to confirm that you are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. The cause of this particular problem has not been discovered till today but there are a lot of suspicions about bacteria, virus and fungi being the major reason for this problem but none of these suspicions have been proved right.

Symptoms: - Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis include joint swelling, pain, warmth and tenderness; red, puffy hands; fatigue, stiffness in the joints when you wake up; weight loss and fever. The smaller joints are usually affected first in the early stages of the disease, and you may notice problems with your ankles, feet, hands and wrists. Recognizing that there is a problem at this stage is important in slowing the progression of the disease.

Natural Methods for Arthritis Treatments: -

Heat and Cold: - Since heat and/or cold is not recommended to alleviate symptoms associated with all types of arthritis, the decision whether to use it or not should be discussed with your doctor or physical therapist.

Joint Protection: - A splint or brace can be used to allow joints to rest and keep them from being used, which can exacerbate the condition and may lead to additional injury. As with many other treatments, your physician or physical therapist can make recommendations and possibly provide you with the brace.

Massage: - This method is associated with temporarily relieving one of the major symptoms associated with arthritis, joint pain, rather than treating the underlying cause, loss of cartilage. A massage therapist will lightly stroke and/or knead the painful muscle, which increases blood flow to the stressed area. It is important to realize that arthritic joints are very sensitive, so the massage therapist must be familiar with the disease and problems associated with the affected joints.

Green Tea has Health Qualities

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

The Chinese have known about Green tea as a strong medication for at least 4000 years. in keeping with legend, a Chinese emperor called Shen Nung discovered tea. Some tea leaves by chance fell into boiling water, and he tried it and found out it invigorating. Green tea became component of the Chinese diet and many important health pros were attributing to it. Now recent medical studies in both Asia and the west are providing a scientific basis for the claim that drinking green tea has extremely significant health pros.health3

Green tea, like black tea is from the leaves of the plant Camellia sinensis. The difference among the three main forms of tea is the way that they are generating. Green tea is unfermented tea meaning that the leaves used for green tea are steamed shortly after been plucked in order to prevent the oxidation of the leaves. In this way the leaves prevail green and the active substances within the leaves retain their features. Black teas on the other hand are from fermented leaves and as a result have less nutritional and enzyme content as the green tea. Thus green and black teas have different chemical properties.

While all tea is healthy to drink, it is green tea that contains the highest level of flavonoids. Recent medical studies recommend green tea to be beneficial in multiple areas this includes the going after:

Digestive and respiratory health
Lowers cholesterol levels
Boosts your immune system
Reduces high blood pressure
Arthritis - anti-inflammatory effect
Oral hygiene - attributable to antibacterial properties
Skin conditions such as acne

Crash Diets And Its Downfall

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

To diet, as the joke goes, means to die with a ‘T’. Such is the case of the vain who go on crash diets just because they think they’re too fat; that their clothes no longer fit; or because their love handles are too big, even if in truth they are not fat at all.health2

Diet is often equated with nutrition. The dictionary defines it as the act of restricting food intake or at least intake of particular food. Diet as a collective is the amount of food a person eats or drinks during the course of a day. People do it for health reasons, some to simply lose weight, and some altogether for all the wrong reasons.

The body needs calories for heat. A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. The unit’s name is French and derives from the Latin calor (heat). Although the new unit of energy is joule, calorie remains as the unit of measurement for energy obtained from food.

A crash diet is a diet which is extreme in its deprivations - typically restricting calorie intake abruptly. Meant to achieve rapid weight loss, a crash diet differs from outright starvation only slightly. Crash diets are unhealthy and are hardly - if ever - recommended by doctors or dietitians. A crash diet may lead to malnutrition, and is not a suggested means of weight loss. It involves drastically cutting back on the amount of calories that you take in daily. Highly similar to a starvation diet, it is often paired with other weight loss “fixes,” including extreme exercise routines and the use of diet pills. Most people followcrash diets yearly in the hopes that they will lose a lot of weight in a very short span of time. Crash diets are recognized by health care professionals and dietitians as being a very dangerous way of trying to lose the excess pounds.

At a technical level, when one goes into crash dieting, the body is shocked by a sudden change in food intake. From a high-energy diet to low-energy food regime. There appears to be arapid weight loss, creating an illusion that the plan is working. At this point, no fat has been lost; what happened is that the body’s limited store of glycogen, a form of carbohydrate, is used up. As glycogen is utilized, the body loses water with it, so there appears to be arapid weight loss.
